Suggested Books for IBPS CWE Exam
78IBPS has changed the whole paradigm of Bank recruitment in India by its successful adaptation of Common Written Exam (CWE) for Probationary Officers, Clerks, and Specialist Officers. Now a single exam will decide the fate of all aspirants for the whole six months. Channelizing all your energy is quite easy in a single purpose (exam) than to do it for lots of purposes (exams). Thinking it in a logical way one can say that the whole pattern of CWE is something that must be cheered by bank aspirants.
Suggested Study Materials
Study materials for IBPS CWE for PO, Clerk, and Specialist Officers overlap because of the very pattern of the exam. It may seem otherwise, but truth is not a single exam is easier than the other. CWE clerk is as tougher to crack as CWE PO or for that matter CWE Specialist Officers. The difference lies slightly in CWE Specialist Officers where aspirants have an additional burden of handling their specialized subjects.
Let’s have a look on suggested books for IBPS Exam:
1. Quantitative Aptitude:
Question papers of the first IBPS CWE for PO and Clerk have shown that they don’t want in-dept knowledge. All they want is to test the analytical thinking skills, problem solving skills of aspirants. Added with this they have tried to test the managerial skills and time management skills in IBPS PO paper. It is suggested that aspirant should not try too much study materials. The best source still remains with R S Aggarwal’s Quantitative Aptitude. This book doesn’t demand any introduction among bank jobs aspirants. Keep this book and practice as much as you can. If you can master this book then stay assured that you are going to handle any questions asked in IBPS CWE. As said earlier, the pattern of paper is not something like that of CAT or CSAT. It is different. Aspirant may also want to buy a good bank PO guide and a book on past question papers for practice. Remember only consistent practice can make you eligible to have score card of IBPS.
2. Reasoning:
Another section and another similar suggestion. Get hold of R S Aggarwal’s book on Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. The variety of questions that are included in this book is worth appreciating and a thorough practice will make aspirants crack the paper easily. Additionally, as suggested above keep practicing with the guide book and a book on past question papers.
3. English Language:
Contrary to popular suggestions, this section demands only basic understanding of English language. If you understand the editorial of a national newspaper (most preferably The Hindu) then take my words you are going to crack this section easily. First thing that you need to do is to make your basic understanding of English Grammar strong. Buy a good English Grammar book like Wren and Martin and try to solve the vast amount of questions that have been appeared there. One more thing that you MUST have is a book by Ashok Kumar Singh namely A Mirror of Common Errors in English Grammar. This book is published by Bharati Bhavan and there are lots of duplicate books in the market with the same author name. Be-aware!!! This book is a must for all.
4. General Awareness:
- Indian Economy (Extra Issue) Pratiyogita Darpan
- A good book on Current Affairs
- Economy Section of Pratiyogita Darpan magazine
- Economic Times (Bank and market page --- NOT WHOLE PAPER)
In addition to that keep yourself attended with all news related to Indian banking industry. These news will also make you fully prepared for the next stage that is for Interview. Try to catch every move of RBI.
5. Computer:
Get a basic computer book. Understand latest computer technology. Get yourself hooked with computer hardware. If you can arrange then get the study material of IGNOU for BCA for first semester. That will be sufficient. Additionally, don’t leave any technical news that has appeared in the newspaper followed by you.
In the end, simple as it seems to be. Preparing for IBPS common written exam is all about consistent practice added with some presence of mind. Don’t dive into too much study materials. Keep that short, but try to master all.
Good Luck!!!
