Nokia Asha 200: Review, Features, and Specifications

By

Asha 200 was said to be a strong statement from Nokia to regain its dwindling market share in India. To an extent this attempt of Nokia seems to be successful as the company has sold large no. of handsets in the Indian market. However, from the user point of view one can say that this much talked phone leaves much to be desired.

To start with, Nokia Asha 200 is a good looking compact phone which supports multi-SIM in the most innovative way. Nokia’s inability to produce powerful dual SIM phone was said to be the main reason behind its current situation in Indian handset markets. The company tried to bridge the gap with this phone. User can swap SIM by just pressing a key which can be said to be a novel attempt by the engineering department of the company.

Let us have a look on Pros and Cons of Nokia Asha 200

Pros:

- The look of this phone is really good. It is hard to find such a wonderful looking phone in this price tag from the house of Nokia. The phone is available in various colors. The white and graphite color phone looks stunningly beautiful.

- The innovative technology used for dual-SIM management is wonderful and can be managed with ease. With this phone one can change the SIM without turning phone off or for that matter removing the battery. Hot-swap of SIM where a simple key can be used to change the SIM is an amazing feature of this phone.

- The battery life of this phone is according to the expectation. I haven’t seen any aberration from the claim made in the brochure in terms of battery life.

- The screen of this phone is also well engineered.

- Even after loading the external memory by its capacity the phone doesn’t show any sign of slowness.

- There is another feature which needs to be mentioned here. Users can cut specific part of a song saved in this phone and set them as ring tone.

Cons:

- The main problem with this phone is its inability to handle both SIM at the same time. One wonders the thought of Nokia team in not supporting call from both SIM at the same time.

- The processing speed of this phone sometimes irritates its users. Press call button and it will take few seconds for making the call. Nokia is not using the standard processor with this phone in their attempt to save costs and keep the price low. However processing speed is something that must be optimal for ultimate satisfaction of its users.

- The problem with this phone started to show if user presses call button hurriedly. Since the phone has a bit slower processor this problem is the most obvious with this phone. Hanging of phone irritates and when it comes to a brand new phone it becomes more irritating.

- The internal memory with this phone is too low. With only 12.8 MB internal memory a user has to rely on external memory to install an app. It is amazing why Nokia decided to give such a low memory space with this phone.

- The phone doesn’t support flash.

Nokia could have given some more options with this phone to attract large no. of middle class population. The phone is definitely short of its expectation, asha. With just Rs. 4,700 it may looks to be a good deal, but in reality it doesn’t. One can’t buy a phone just because it looks good.
