***************************
IBPS has conducted the Common Written Exam (CWE) for Clerks to make all nationalized banks of India to recruit clerks through its score cards. The exam was held on 27th November and 4th of December, 2011. It has been asked to do the same for Probationary Officer (PO), the result of which has already been declared and the issuance of score cards is completed - for both PASSED and FAILED aspirants. The Common Written Exam is both a challenge and opportunity for students hoping to be in the payroll on a nationalized bank.
IBPS has declared the result of first ever CWE for Clerks on 29th February. More than five lacs students have been declared as PASSED. Now, IBPS will send score cards to all successful candidates. This scorecard will be valid for one year and students can use this scorecard to apply in 19 nationalized banks. The recruitment notifications should start in bulk in a very short span of time.
Exam Pattern for IBPS Clerk
The IBPS Common Written Exam consisted of two papers having 250 marks. The first section contained 225 questions. The time duration allotted for this section was two and half hours. The second section was of descriptive type. Students were given one hour to solve this section – descriptive part. As for marks, the first section – objective questions – was worth 225 marks and the second section – descriptive section – carried 25 marks. There was be 250 marks in all.
Negative Marking
One should aware of the fact that there was negative marking for every wrong attempt. One wrong answer will reduce your marks by ¼. Aspirants should attempt questions only when there is a sort of surety. Since, the overall cut off of clerical exam is not expected to be higher.
Cut Off
IBPS will apply the same formula as it has done in the case of CWE PO to calculate the cut-off marks of students. The marks of all students in a particular category will be standardized through Linear Conversion Method.
Formula for Cut-Off
For General Category Students: Average – ¼ Standard Deviation
For Reserved Category Students: Average – ¾ Standard Deviation
Tips
If you are going to appear in the IBPS CWE Clerk then remember that you must clear the minimum cut off in each sections. Getting a score card is very much important here since you will not get a second chance till the next six months.
Keep an eye on time while practicing questions at home. Time management is very crucial here. Since, there will be a provision for negative marks hence you need to try your best to gain high level of accuracy.
R S Agarwal books on Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning will suffice your needs for two sections. Additionally, you should get a standard practice set.
For English, you should try to gain the basic knowledge of English Grammar. The questions asked in this exam will not be tough. The standard of questions will remain to be that of 12th level. Hence, concepts should be your priority. To be extra sure, buy A Mirror of Common Errors in English Grammar by Ashok Kumar Singh [Bharati Bhavan]. Try to understand the problem that you faced during the practice session.
General Awareness: For General Awareness, the first thing that you need to do is to get the meaning of all terms being used in Indian Banking. Almost all questions will be asked about Indian Banking and Indian Economy. Getting facts about Indian Banks and Indian Economy since last six months will be quite helpful. Consult a standard Career Magazine like Pratiyogita Darpan for the same. Don’t overdose yourself with too many facts and data. The approach should remain simple.

What are chances for a general candidate from AP who got 174 marks in ibps clerks exam?
Every bdy here is very curious to knw the expected cutoff for ibps
clerk..let me clear that there is lots of students who got score in betn 120-150 so as expected for general candidates their expected cutoff will be 160+ and for obc candidates spl north 140+ and for sc nd st it will be 130+ so dnt wry guys nd start preparing for interview...there are 70% students which are secured marks betn 120-150.
hey aneesh do u know anythng abt cut offs
As you know the General category candidate should be equal chance to the others who scored 12.5% lesser than the first.*1 eg.156( General) = 156-19.5 (12.5%)=136.5 (Other category)*2 In normal case the ratio between po and clerk will be 1: 5 ,Then you can expect latest 1.35 lacks vacancies will arrive. More details you may contact aneeshkumartb@gmailcom
Ibps need to revisit of the fact that already selected candidates are getting shortlisted for the interview.this is injustice to candidates who have applied with slightly lower score

Dear Deepak sir,
My name is Vrinda from Navi Mumbai;I got 143marks in gen category in IBPS Clerical. Is there any chance for me to get an interview call from any banks?? Please reply ... thank you.
Can any body tell me from which marks there is a possibility to get selected in any bank for general candidates for the clerical posts.
RESPECTED SIR \ MADAM
I'm one of the candidate qualified IBPS PO CWE EXAM 2012 .
I want to know wether i'm going to get select for interview or not b'coz
i found that only top 10000 (ten thousand) candidate get chance for
interview in most of the bank recuirtment .
For ex: Union bank recuritment for PO 2467 has called 10611
approx then again same 10000 candidiate r selected for syndicate bank
PO recuirtment interview !
If candidate selected for any bank like union bank has announced the
final result for 2467 po recuirtment but in other bank also they had
applied and even though they will be counted for the shortlist
candidate
then what about the other candidate??????
We r not going to get chance for interview b'coz other bank
donot know that the candidiate applied has already selected for
previous bank interview in this way other candidate will not get
chance for interview !
B'coz all most all leading bank has annouced the
recuirtment seat for PO.
Atleast IPBS should go through this problem !
All bank has announced recuirtment simualtaneously ..........?
therefore only top 10000 candidate get selected for interview ?
Bank provides cut off marks for online application but selection
criteria is either 1:3 or 1:5 ?
Even IBPS has not given rank in certificate ?
So that we should get familiar with our position in category or all
over ranking ?
Its an request to pls take out some solution so that other candidate
also get selected for the interview .
what about highest score in himachal i got 176 in obc category .........
I m in general n I got 149.wil I b selected 4 interview?
