You need to have a passive income source. This is all the more relevant after the recent financial recession and continued volatility in the business world. Lately, internet has become a potent source for passive income. You can earn optimum amount of money while doing what you love, and more importantly, from the comfort of your home. There are lots of options through which you can earn money on the internet. But, if you can write and know a little bit about keywords and SEO, you can consider writing articles. You can start your own website or blog for the same. A website will demand time and technical expertise. If you can’t offer time for it, consider joining a Revenue Sharing Website.

Revenue Sharing Website, as the name suggests, shares the advertising income with you. The ratio of income varies from website to website. Some websites require that you should have a Google Adsense account while others demand just a PayPal account. The best thing about these revenue sharing websites is the fact that you don’t need to do anything other than writing what you love. Everything else like design and Search Engine Optimization are done by the websites.

1. HubPages: Undoubtedly, HubPages is the best Revenue Sharing Website. The earning potential of it is great. This website was one among top 50 most visited websites in US. However, Google Panda update slapped it hard in Feb, 2011. The website has again roared back with a smart move of subdomain. Now all hubbers – article (hub) writers – will have their own subdomain. The subdomain move has made HubPages again the boss of the industry.

The earning opportunity at HubPages is simply enormous. You need a Google Adsense account to earn money. It also supports Google Account application. Last year it had started its own HubPages Advertisement Program (HPAds). HPAds is an umbrella program where you can earn money in accordance to the no.of page impressions. The payment is made through Paypal. But, user still needs to have an active Google Adsense account to use HPAds. Hubbers also earn handsomely through Amazon Affiliates Program and eBay Program. Both of these programs are now a part of HPAds. To earn through eBay Program, you need to have an active Google Adsense Account of good standing. However, earning through Amazon Affiliates Program doesn’t require Adsense account.

The earning is shared with a ratio of 60:40. Hubbers get 60% and HubPages gets 40%.

2. Squidoo: It is another great website to write and earn online. Squidoo is the biggest competitor of HubPages.

Though, there are some serious problems with Squidoo. It is not as impartial as Hubpages. It shares 50% of profit to its users (lensmasters – articles at Squidoo are known as lenses and authors are lensmasters). Note that HubPages shares 60% of revenue. The difference is huge. Then, Squidoo shares money through a bureaucratic system known as tiers. This system demands that to earn noticeable money from Squidoo, you need to have your lenses ranked among top 10,000. Though, earning through Amazon and eBay programs are shared directly with lensmasters. System is archaic to for a newbie. You need to give time to it. Patience pays with Squidoo.

3. Triond: Triond is another revenue sharing website. It originated from Israel. It shares revenue with its users in the ratio of 60-40. The payout is really low – all you need to do is to just cross 50 Cents in a month to get your PayPal enriched in the next month. But low payout is also an indication of not-so-ok earning potential of Triond. The submission of articles at this website is really tough and sometimes frustrates its users.

4. Wizzley: Wizzley is the latest powerful entry into the world of Revenue Sharing User Generated Content Websites. Wizzley is an amalgamation of best of both HubPages and Squidoo. You need to have a Google Adsense Account to earn money through this website. The initial revenue sharing is in the ratio of 50-50%, however, if the no. of articles written by a user crossed the mark of 50, then the user will get 60% of revenue. In addition to that, Wizzley is quite liberal in terms of allowing its users to earn money through various Affiliates accounts. You can earn through Amazon, eBay, and AllPosters. If you don’t have Google Adsense Account, you can still earn money on Wizzley. It has recently allowed Chitika.

5. Xomba: Google Panda algorithm has killed Xomba, as they say. But, in reality Xomba was killed by its own owner. They had implemented so many ridiculous rule changes.

Recently, Xomba has also used the subdomain tactics to get the attention of Google. And, to attract users it has become quite liberal in its posting policies. However, a major drawback with this site is its total apathy towards users’ problems.
